Academics
In order to graduate in 2008, students need four credits of English and Social Studies and three credits of Math and Science. In addition to the core classes, one credit of Health/PE, one credit computer classes, and elective classes are required. Training at the Mecosta-Osceola Career Center and work experience may be possible options to fulfill the credit requirements.
Instruction Method
Students are enrolled in a self-paced learning module. Instruction is provided whenever needed and on an individualized basis.
The ultimate teaching objective is a learning environment where students meet their full academic and social potential.
The school year is divided into three 12 week sessions (trimesters). Students will receive a six-week progress report and a report card at the end of 12 weeks. Weekly progress reports are available upon request.
In order to credit, students are required to maintain a “C” average. Each student’s progress is monitored to ensure graduation requirements are met.
Credit Recovery
The class schedule is set up as a five-period day, earning a total of 2.5 credits per trimester. Students work at their own pace and may earn more than 2.5 credits per trimester. However, students are not permitted to graduate early using this system.
Students may choose to work on one class at a time. As soon as one class is completed, another class is assigned.
